Looking for answers...

After my reluctant triumphant return to to the pool today, I came across some things that I need help with!

How do I keep my swim cap from letting water get inside?

How do you use a pull-buoy? I looked ridiculous as it popped out 5 times in 1 lap...

When riding on a bike trainer, how do you know how many miles you've gone?

Thanks in advance for your words of wisdom to my silly questions!

The trick I use for swim caps - 1 bobby pin in the front to hold the cap to your hair.

What kind of swim cap are you using? If it's silicone (vs. latex) those are generally nicer to your hair, but tend to slip around and let water in. I usually readjust every once in awhile. But your hair is probably going to get wet no matter what you do.

As for the pull buoy, you put it between your thighs and you use your thighs to hold it there. You don't need to hold it so tight that you crush it, but just enough that it stays in place.

And in terms of the bike trainer, could you get a bike computer (I have one from before I got my Garmin) that attaches to the wheel and records your pace and distance.

Hopefully that helps!

swim cap: No idea. I don't use them, even though I should!

pull buoy: Think of it like you're doing the adductor machine in the gym. Squeeze your legs together and work the insides of your quads. You might also need a thicker one?

bike trainer: I have a Garmin bike kit so my 305 can track distance, speed and cadence. That said, my distance on the trainer is crap compared to the road.

I remember it was tricky to get the pull-buoy to stay in place at first but it gets easier quickly!

Mostly everyone has answered your questions.
I vote thin cheap latex swim cap - pull it down far enough.

Pull buoy - up by your mommy parts in between your legs with one part in front and one part in back - squeeze your inner thighs together!

Good luck!
