Happy Anniversary!

Today is my 7 year anniversary with Kevin!
my pretty flowers he sent

The last year or so hasn't been easy, but I feel like things are slowly getting better.  I can't be happier to be working on year number 8, and planning our wedding some time in the future. We don't do anniversary gifts, instead we usually count our winter trip as our present to each other and go out for a nice dinner. Tonight we're going out for italian, yumm!

Today I'm feeling a little better. At a friend's suggestion, I also took some dramamine, which seems to have taken care of that lingering lightheadedness/dizziness. I am going to see my coworker tomorrow to have the maneuver done one more time. I hate that its keeping me from working out though, I only managed a little stretching today. I have a 5K in the morning, so hopefully I'm feeling up to it.

I made cake pops for the first time today with the cake pop maker that my roomie bought me for my birthday. Red Velvet reindeer, I found on Bakerella's blog HERE.

Mine were not as sucessfull. At first, it was a lumpy mess. The balls were falling flat, the chocolate was dripping everywhere, and the sticks were poking through the cake.

My first attempt, a hot mess!
Then, I read how I should pop them in the freezer for a few minutes after putting the stick in. It worked so much better! The pops were colder, so the chocolate hardened faster and they came out much better!

Not quite as good as Bakerella!
Overall, I think they came out ok. My roomate gave them 2 thumbs on the taste test. Too much work for my cookie swap in a few weeks, but doable for another time in the future.

Have you ever made cake pops?

Happy Friday & good luck to everyone racing this weekend!

I have made cake pops - but yours came out way cuter. I haven't gotten the dipping down and I'm too impatient to decorate. Maybe someday. Have you tried the new Starbucks peppermint brownie ones? Heaven! I'm going to try to make those soon.

Very cute!
Yes, I've made cake pops and cake balls last Christmas. They are fun to make if you have the time and patience.
