I've been naughty...

How do you stay on track nutritionally?

You see... I'm having some trouble.
I was excellant the first month of Jillian's program, then month 2 my nutrition kind of fell apart, and I'm really hoping to get back on track for month 3.

The problem??

Umm....
The Holidays?!!

Have not
been good with food.

The treats (white chocolate peppermint hugs?!), the booze, the parties. I really need to get a grip on this stuff.  How am I supposed to avoid all this??

I'm trying to picture my wedding, the dress, the parties, the vacations coming up. oh my. Plus I need to get on my racing schedule and plan for the upcoming months. I'm thinking sprint tri in late april, half in late may, and another 70.3 in june.

I need to keep space on my schedule for a Team Tough Chik race...

Nutritionist?

Today I had a day off.

I had a million things I wanted to get done.

I managed to complete my entire to-do list, minus 1 this weekend.

run.

Today I planned on getting out for a beautiful 50 degree run.

Completing a training plan for the next 6-8 weeks, cleaning the bathroom, doing laundry & going grocery shopping, I decided would give me more peace of mind than a run. So I did miss it. But I did manage to get a lot done, and that beautiful new training plan has a run scheduled for tomorrow.

Yesterday, I started my morning with a trip to Bia Fitness to listen to a nutritionist speak. Tanya Hart @ Root Wellness + Nutrition, gave a great talk on diet myths and answered our many questions. I loved a lot of the things she had to say...
How important it is to eat as close to the earth as possible
Each person has different nutrition needs
That cravings are your body's way of calling out for a nutrient
That hormones & additives in foods affect how we feel, lose weight, and our energy levels.

Pretty much all of what she said is spot on with what I already believe in, but am not great at practicing. As I think about my weightloss (slow) and how I want to be for 70.3 (fit, fast, toned!), I think its a great idea. Not to mention, she did offer a great promotion to those of us who went to the session.

50% of initial consultation & 20% off package pricing.

Even with those discounts, I still consider it pricey. I know how important it is to fuel my body. I feel like if I'm properly fueled, I'll perform better. Then will the money be worth it? As Tanya told me in an email (we've exchanged a few back/forth), "The tools and resources you receive from this work, are yours to use for the rest of your life"

So now I'm trying to decide...
no meeting
initial meeting (<$90)
12 week commitment (<$700, I think before the discount)

decisions. decisions.

What are your thoughts?
Have you ever seen a nutritionist?

and I almost forgot!

Three Things Thursday!

1. What is the deal with Biggest Loser? I am a HUGE Jillian Michaels fan, and was devastated when she announced her leave from Biggest Loser. I always loved watching Jill with the contestants, she is amazing. The new guy isn't bad, but Anna Kournikova is horrible. She is boring, not passionate, and to top it off not really helping her team lose the pounds. Thankfully, theres rumors that she won't return(HERE).

2. My nutrition has been crap this week, and I'm hoping that admitting it will help me get past it. I went crazy and bought Pumpkin ice cream, delish. Of course it was buy one get one free. I may have to toss them in the garbage. I missed my run wednesday, and made it back to bootcamp, but not without pulling my rhomboids. Now I'm heating my back and watching Parks & Rec & hoping it will diappear after a good nights sleep and some muscle relaxers.

3.  I'm leaving tomorrow for Long Island for the Divas Half Marathon!
I'm pumped to get all dolled up (crossing my fingers to find a fabulous tutu at the expo), and finishing with an awaiting treat of champagne & bling from a sexy fireman. I can't wait to come back & share the details. I know I won't run a great race, but I keep reminding myself that the goal is Disney! Sunday's run is only 9 miles on the schedule, so the extra 4.1 is a bonus. I may subtract from my 7 I missed and do 3 or so tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Three Things Thursday!

1. I got in an awesome run today. I skipped my run in the morning, but after a great day at work (so unusual to say), and getting home a little early, I decided to give it a whirl before dinner. I was scheduled for a 5 mile tempo run, so I mapped out a loop that was almost 5, and headed out for a nice rainy run. Normally, I hate running in less than ideal running conditions, but for some reason I couldn't wait to get out in the rain to run. My planned mid-tempo pace is 10:45 on my training schedule, and I kept it pretty close...

I started a little fast, then settled in. I remembered that this route was the one I did for my first post surgery outdoor run, and thought of how far I've come since then.

2. I did it! I joined the Half Fanatics!

I am now Fanatic #1184 at a Neptune (1 moon) level. I am hoping to upgrade to Saturn (3 moon) status in the fall with 4 half marathons in 4 states in 51 days.

3. With my vacation now booked, I have continued to stay focused on my eating and exercising. I had an intense bootcamp session last night with a heavy focus on TRX, which I loove. My 2x/week bootcamp starts on tuesday morning, which means I need to adapt my training schedule since tues/thurs are typically running days. Krystal also gave us some great nutritional advice (separate post about it later), which I think is a great focus to help me with my weightloss. Overall I am feeling so much healthier and starting to notice little changes in how my clothes fit, hooray!
