Three Things Thursday!

1. I'm putting together a new order from Amazon. I just got a couple new of my favorite bras (Fiona Bra By Moving Comfort), and now I'm putting together a new shopping list. So far....
Nuun Active Hydration Tri-berry, 12-Count Tubes (Pack of 8)

and
Honey Stinger Organic Energy Chews, Pomegranate Passion Fruit, 1.8-Ounce Bags (Pack of 12)

What are your favorite running/triathlon staples?

2. I signed up for my next race! A week from sunday, I will be doing my next sprint triathlon at the Wilbraham YMCA. Last night, my friend Debbie and I wanted to get in an open water swim. I got my wetsuit ready, and after some research decided to head to the pond in Ludlow, since Spec pond in Wilbraham was listed as closed until next weekend. After driving over, we were stopped by locked gates! Closed here as well, how will we get a practice swim in before race day?

3.  I have been debating over joining the Half Fanatics. Right now, I would qualify as a Neptune (1 moon) for my RnR New Orleans and Disney Princess halfs. I have also been thinking, "how can I qualify for more moons?" Here is my plan.....
I am already planning on the Hartford Half in October
I am pretty sure there is a Half in Monson, MA in November (although who knows after the tornados)
To earn 3 moon Saturn status, I would have to complete 4 half marathons in 4 different states in 51 days. I would have MA & CT, so I would like to find halfs in either RI, VT, NH, ME, NY in October or November. Could be a fun challenge!

Are you a Half Fanatics member?
Do you have a October or November race suggestion?

In bad news.... my brother is thinking of dropping out of his first full marathon since he's suffered a few injuries and his training has not been up to par. I am nervous for him, since I know it will make Goofy that much harder for him in January.

Hoping to get a run in tomorrow!

Need or Want? (and a winner)

today's quote

"Think about what will improve your quality of life. Swimming lessons? Organic food? Fancy face cream? Whatever it is, invest in that!"

There is a game I play with myself that a coworker taught me when I was saving to buy my house. It's called need or want. Every time I wanted to buy something, I was supposed to say to myself, "Do I really need this or do I just want it?" Sometimes there would be things I would say need to (new running shoes, jeans that fit, relaxing vacation), and want to (relaxing vacation, new coach purse, drinks & a nice dinner out). I also think there is a category in between. Sometimes there are want items we need to help us sustain a healthier lifestyle. We don't necessarily need to buy organic foods, but to me it's important to avoid the added hormones & processing. I don't need to spend money on race entries, but I want to so I have motivation to work hard.

In my opinion, the wants that makes a healthier, happier you, are really needs. It's important to invest in our bodies, take care of ourselves, and put a little extra in when it counts. Maybe your investment is dedication, time, or money. Whatever  it is, take the initiative to make it happen.

What are your wants that are really needs?

I have been exhausted this week, Kevin literally had to kick me out of the bed this morning so I could get a quick run and some strength training in. I skipped yesterdays pool session, but got my trainer ride in. My plan is for bed in the next 20-30 min to make it an easier morning tomorrow for a swim.

I can't believe that the Cherry Blossom 10 miler is almost here!
Maybe its because I haven't been 'training' specifically for this race. I just kind of kept up my mileage after the half marathons with 8.5 mile long runs, so I'm sure I'll be fine. I obviously paid extra to have a finishing medal, I have to add to my wall of bling!

I need an updated shot with my latest medals!
I'm not sure what I'll wear to the race yet. I'll pick out some options, then maybe have you guys help me. I leave saturday morning with my brother out of Boston, so we'll get there around 10:30am with plenty of time to get to packet pick up!

Is anyone else running the Cherry Blossom?

Moving Comfort Review & Giveaway

Once upon a time, I worked for the Gap, and back then they made (what I thought to be) the best sports bras to hold me down with running. Being a little very heavy up top (38C), meant the wrong sports bra made a workout miserable. Then, for some reason the Gap decided to stop making their high impact sports bras.

I panicked.

What on earth was I supposed to wear?

Randomly one day, I went to the website where I buy my running shoes (road runner sports), and decided to pick one out to try. I don't remember if I originally saw the brand Moving Comfort in a magazine (which is very possible), but I decided to give it a try. I ordered the Maia.

The Maia is an underwire full coverage bra that features seam free interior molded cups, moderate contour shape cups, underwire, back adjustable straps, and an adjustable back closure. While it was comfortable, I wasn't in love. It felt like too much fabric (I guess I asked for it when I chose 'full coverage'), and I didn't feel as supported as my previous bras.

My next choice that I tried was the Fiona. It features seam free interior molded cups, front adjustable straps(LOVE), an interior front yolk to limit vertical movement, and an adjustable back closure.

I was in heaven! This bra is their #1 seller & you can tell why! My favorite part was that I felt so secure, there was practically no bouncing whatsoever with my runs. The adjustable straps were great to be able to adjust the height as well. This bra quickly became my favorite, and a bought a few more to add to my collection.

Then I started thinking about my racerback tops. I was used to wearing the Fiona and having the straps show, but I really wanted a racerback bra. So I ordered the Juno.

The pretty color Moving Comfort Sent me!

The Juno boasts many of the same features, but with a racerback design. It also has an adjustable keyhole back, and front & back mesh zones. It feels a little more heavy duty than the Fiona, but they both work amazingly well. It was comfortable enough for me to swim, bike & run through my entire first triathlon, and helped me through plenty of long runs.

After I touched base with the great people at Moving Comfort, they offered to send me a Juno in one of their beautiful spring colors, and let me raffle one off to one of you!
