Three Things Thursday

1. I have been slacking on workouts, which leads me to slack at blogging. I have been so exhausted lately, I've barely been able to drag my butt out of bed for work, let alone a workout. I visited the doctor once on this issue (and some other symptoms I've been having), but nothing has shown up. For someone who eats well, exercises & gets lots of sleep, it seems a little weird! Although today's tiredness/sickness has food poisoning to blame!

2. I signed up for Half Marathon #10!
S & I decided we needed another (running) race before RnR Providence in August. The race is May 27th, and it looks like a nice course. Maybe if my knee if feeling good, I could aim for a PR??
(which by the way, my knee + KT tape = awesome. More on that another time)

3. I am heading to Boston this weekend with my brother for the Multisport World Conference & Expo! I'm looking forward to listening to some speakers, learning to take care of my bike, & checking out some great vendor booths. I am going to try not to spend all my money.

Anyone else feel exhausted and lightheaded all the time?
Anyone running Boston's Run to Remember?
Anyone going to the Multisport World Conference?

germs, vegas, and prizes!

I hate that just as I start to get my workout mojo back, I start to get sick. I'm thinking lack of sleep over the weekend, a crappy diet the last week, and everyone sick at work are to blame. Tuesday night I guzzled 3 cups of green tea, and wednesday morning I had DayQuil, Airborne, and green tea before heading to work. Today though, I'm feeling stuffy, headachy, exhausted, and have a sore throat. I'm skipping work in favor of more rest and healing. Mayyyybe I'll see if I feel up the gym later. But for now, after I get things straightened out, its back to bed. Then maybe I'll have some time to clean my bathroom and work on my tri training schedule.

Aimee @ I Tri to Be Me suggested I try following an Olympic training plan to keep my mileage base up. So I've searching around online for ideas on one I like. So far what I'm not liking is longer than an hour in the pool! I don't think I've ever swam for that long! I'll need to get the waterproof Ipod case just to keep me occupied. I am excited to use my new swim cap from REI though!

Guess what came in my email...

Shelley was already begging me to do this race, but it being so close to Disney 2012, I'm not sure if it will be a smart financial decision. My credit card is still hurting & waiting for my tax return to settle last vacations bills. I am reasoning with myself saying they are a month apart, and I have a coupon code for Disney & could probably find one for Vegas or wait to sign up till I'm at RnR Providence. I just think it would be extra awesome to run the beautiful strip at night!

I also got an email about the Danskin Tri in Webster. It is now scheduled for July 24, which may make it warm enough to go without the wetsuit!

Sick day!

I could feel the cold creeping up all week. My sore throat started right before christmas, then disappeared that weekend, only to return the following monday. I downed clementines, vitamin C cough drops & green tea like crazy. I contemplated asking my boss if I could just take today off to avoid getting too sick, but with staffing, I knew he'd say no. I tried to tough it out.....

Then last night, the stuffy nose hit too. All the Nyquil & afrin in the world couldn't de-clog me. I ended up buying a Neti-pot. wicked gross. It seems to have cleared me a little, we'll see. Last night Kevin came home from snowboarding with a hurt back. I tried some adjustments on him, but he was in spasm pretty bad, so I suggested a trip to the urgent care center for some muscle relaxers. By the time we left there, I dropped off the prescription, tucked him into my bed, went to pick up the prescription, came home to drug him up, it was almost 10pm. That + a horrible night with a stuffy nose = I called out of work today.

So much for my scheduled run. I laid on the couch until 11:30 or so before deciding to shower. I baked a cake for Kevin's birthday (we're celebrating at our party tonight), took down the christmas tree, and did laundry. I ran a couple errands and picked up some booze for tonight. My cocktail of choice will be the neti-pot mimosas. Got to get in that extra vitamin C somehow!

Tonight we're heading to a friend's house for a small low-key party. Tomorrow we're having a chinese lunch with Kevin's family (brother, SIL & nephews are visiting from VA). My goal is a ride on the trainer tomorrow, and my 14 miler for sunday. wish me luck!

Don't you hate it when....

You leave the house only to go to one specific place and its closed.

Someone is walking away from a place (store, gym, place of business), sees you, and knows that you are going there too and DOESN'T BOTHER TO TELL YOU IT'S CLOSED!

This has happened to me before at the gym. There was a freak power outage, and they didn't open. I passed a woman who I thought was just leaving the gym, but was someone who just couldn't bother to open her mouth and tell me it was closed. Yesterday, I decided to brave the afternoon roads to head to UPS to ship out a few things. I get out my boxes, and am carrying an enormous piperlime box, a large amazon box & a small box with Rev Abs for amber. A woman carrying a box leaving UPS smiles at me, I assume she just picked up a package. I slosh through the snow with my huge boxes, only to see a sign on the door that they are closed due to weather. WTF!?! That woman reallllly couldn't let me know? So rude!!

No workout this morning. I'm still feeling sickish. Wicked sore throat, a lot of coughing. My throat feels raw. I downed about 20 vitamin C drops, and a cup full of robitussum. Hopefully it will be better tomorrow. My eating has been crap today. Candy, muffins, etc, YUCK! Tomorrow I will run and eat better, I swear. I need to! I'm drinking green tea with honey in attempt to soothe my throat & cleanse myself from all the junk I've put in my body today. Good night!
