Tough Chik Tuesday

Did you know I was on Team Tough Chik?
This team is full of a group of AMAZING women who are inspiring, encouraging, and totally kick ass!
I'm going to try hard to get in answers to our weekly Tough Chik Question!

This week's question:
Despite our best efforts, we are not the perfect runner. We sleep in. We eat too much or too little. We under train. We over train. We eschew cross training. The list goes on.  What I want to know is: what running rule(s) are you guilty of breaking?

Yikes.
Which ones aren't I guilty of.

Too many cocktails....
girls night out

Eating too much...
ice cream sandwiches at Magic Kingdom

Skipping workouts in favor of more sleep...
my cozy bed during the blackout

I have been better about consistency with training, but I would have to say that is my #1 guilt. Training for RnR Providence last summer I was on target running wise, but skimped on the swimming & biking which impacted my triathlon performance. For marathon training, I missed long runs or had to end early due to extreme pain or weather. I felt underprepared. I do NOT want to feel this way for my 70.3, so I am making a plan. I am aiming to stick to the plan, like I did for RnR Providence. I want to turn this guilt into a strength.
NO MORE UNDERTRAINING!

What are you guilty of?

I have ZERO consistency with training. I feel I'm at least getting better about cross training but I think I need to start planning out what is on schedule for the week- the past 1.5 years I've just been 'winging' it

ugh, i am guilty of your #1 and #2. i have learned that if i fall off the food wagon (and booze) i gain weight quickly. my body just isn’t meant to eat everything i want. :( i just made my plan yesterday and posted it on my blog. i decided i am going to post my weekly schedule as well to stick with it. good luck-you will do great!!

I'm guilty of not having a single run in a month! EEK! The last run was just soooo much mental effort and physical pain that it has left a lingering dread - shameful because I'm sure the first few runs back will suck even more since it's been a month! SIGH!

I've been undertrained for a couple of halfs - it's WAY better to toe the starting line knowing you've done all you can to train and prep. Good luck with your new training plan. Know we're all here to cheer you on!

I have a hard time even sticking to my half marathon schedule. Stuff comes up when you have two school aged children and a husband in school (working full time also) and when I watch my niece all day long and then work at night. It's hard to dedicate a certain day to running since I used to run when I had time. We will see how it goes. As long as my long run keeps going up, that's how I will gauge it!

ALL OF THE ABOVE I am guilty of!

I am very guilty of drinking too many cocktails. And too many cocktails means no run for me the next day.

I am guilty of overeating and having too many cocktails which equals sleep in favor of a workout! Good luck on your consistency!

Definitely guilty of eating too much. I've really had a hard time the past week with snacking. Ugh. Need to figure out how to get away from this bad habit.

Not training enough - I have gone into every half marathon I have ever done with minimal training. I am doing the Rock n Roll DC in March and for once I am actually training and it feels great!

I'm guilty too! I posted my answer at http://anotherrunningmom.com but will say in short that the rule I break most is stretching. Oops!
